On the occasion of the 67th Independence Day at ONGC here, CMD Sudhir Vasudeva hoisted the national flag and empathised with the plight of the disaster-hit victims in Uttarakhand.
Mr Vasudeva, during his speech said the ONGC was with the state in meeting with the challenges faced by the survivors and government post disaster and elaborated upon ONGC's relief efforts.
He extended the support of all ONGCians who are contributing one day of their salary, which would amount to about Rs 5 crore, for the disaster-victims.
Earlier ONGC's medical teams and choppers had supported the relief work during the difficult times. ONGC was one of the first organisations, to contribute Rs 2 crore towards relief operations, he said.
During his speech, the CMD also elaborated upon the achievements and accomplishments of the energy giant and charted out organisation's goals and growth strategy.
The awards for the best assets, basins, services, institutes, and meritorious service, were presented by CMD on this occasion.
CMD and directors of ONGC also gave away aids and appliances to the persons with disabilities as part of ONGC's CSR initiative-- Swavlamban Abhiyaan -- which is being launched pan India.
Mr Vasudeva also inspected the parade during which contingents of CISF, ONGC Security, Fire Services, Bhootpoorva Sainik Kalyan Nigam, Kendriya Vidyalaya, B S Negi MPPS and ONGC employees marched with fervour.
Display by the brass band of IMA and pipe band of Gorkha regiment was loudly applauded by the large gathering.
A scintillating show of patriotism and zeal was presented by children from Shishu Vihar, KV, EWC, Himjyoti school and members of WDF. UNI JN PA 1758 NNNN.
